HD DVD is an abbreviation for High definition DVD. It is a high-density optical disc format that stores data and high-definition video. HD DVD is just like a DVD, except that it has a larger capacity. With large screen format displays so widely used, HD DVDs are the ideal medium for high quality high definition content.

While Blu ray is more expensive, its storage capacity is more.
